Skin Lesion Removal

Cryopen Treatment with Nurse Catherine: Precision Cryotherapy for Skin Lesions

Cryopen is a non-invasive treatment that uses cryotherapy to target and treat a variety of skin lesions, including warts, moles, sunspots, age spots, and skin tags. Nurse Catherine offers this advanced treatment at our clinic, using precise, controlled freezing to safely remove these skin imperfections.

Cryopen works by applying a high-pressure jet of cryogen (nitrous oxide) directly to the lesion, causing it to freeze and gradually fall off as the skin heals.

Treatment Overview:

Cryopen delivers controlled freezing to the targeted area, providing precision and minimal damage to the surrounding healthy tissue.

The treatment is generally well-tolerated, with a mild stinging or tingling sensation during application.
Cryopen is ideal for treating benign skin imperfections such as warts, skin tags, age spots, and sun damage.

Pre-Treatment Care:

Limit direct sun exposure on the area being treated for at least two weeks prior to the treatment.
Refrain from tanning or using tanning beds for at least 2 weeks before the procedure to reduce the risk of pigmentation changes.
Do not apply any harsh skincare products (such as acids or exfoliants) to the treatment area 24-48 hours before your appointment.
Nurse Catherine will assess your skin condition during the consultation to ensure Cryopen is the appropriate treatment for your needs and discuss any relevant medical history.

Post-Treatment Care:

After treatment, a cool compress may be applied to the treated area to help soothe the skin.
It is important not to pick at or scratch the treated area as it heals to prevent scarring or infection.
Avoid sun exposure for at least 2 weeks following the treatment. Always use a broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) to protect the healing skin.
It’s common to experience mild redness, swelling, or a blister-like formation in the treated area. This usually resolves within a few days.
The treated lesion will typically scab and fall off over the course of 1-2 weeks. It’s important to allow this process to happen naturally to avoid scarring.
Apply a gentle moisturiser to the treated area to support healing and avoid excessive dryness.

Contraindications:

Cryopen is not recommended during pregnancy due to the lack of sufficient safety data.
Do not undergo Cryopen treatment if you have an active infection in the area to be treated (e.g., cold sores or bacterial infection).
If you have a known sensitivity to cold or conditions such as Raynaud’s disease, Cryopen may not be suitable.
Patients with conditions like eczema, dermatitis, or psoriasis in the treatment area should consult with Nurse Catherine to determine suitability.
If you have a history of keloid scarring, Cryopen treatment should be avoided in those areas.
Cryopen with Nurse Catherine offers a quick and effective solution for treating skin imperfections with minimal downtime. By following pre- and post-treatment care instructions, you can ensure optimal results and smooth, healthy skin following your procedure.
