BIO

Malligarani Rangarajan (RANI)

After completing her university studies in Western medicine and qualifying as an ophthalmologist, Rani worked for 15 years in India. Witnessing her father’s success with acupuncture, and experiencing its benefits herself, she became inspired to explore this alternative system of medicine.

She went on to study Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) at Shenzhou University in Amsterdam, graduating in 2010 with Honours (Cum Laude). Alongside her clinical practice, Rani remained academically up to date by undertaking numerous training programmes in the Netherlands and India over a seven-year period.

In 2014, she had the opportunity to meet and train under the renowned master Dr Tan himself. This marked the beginning of her journey in treating pain using Distal Needling Acupuncture. She continued to advance her expertise in Dr Tan’s Balance Method through further training in:

  • Utrecht, Netherlands
  • Koblenz, Germany
  • Lucerne, Switzerland
  • Barcelona, Spain
  • Paris, France

Through her work, Rani became aware of a growing community of acupuncturists worldwide focusing on the treatment of certain eye conditions—conditions often regarded by mainstream medicine as difficult to manage, with limited options and a risk of progressive vision loss. Recognising an opportunity to support patients facing visual impairment, she pursued specialised training in Ophthalmic Acupuncture, incorporating the latest developments in the field.

Eye care has always been her passion, and this focus continues to guide her clinical work.
